The MD2 file format is the native 3D model format used by the Quake II videogame engine. Developed for the purpose of storing animated 3D game characters, the MD2 format has also found its way into other 3D game engines.
Within an MD2 file can be found 3D geometric data representing the game character, including vertices, faces and material information. Also included are the animation keyframes necessary for in-game animations and poses.
MD2 files can be opened with the specialist 3D editing software, or you can use our range of MD2 file converters to process MD2 files into other 3D formats, such as OBJ.
MD2 Converter Capabilities
Currently, our MD2 converter can only convert from MD2 files, our developers are working to allow converting to MD2 files in future versions of our tools. Our MD2 3D Model/Mesh tool does not support any color material data contained within MD2 files, so the converted file will not contain any color information.
