RGB files are a type of image file where the image data consists of a stream of raw pixel data with no header information. This lack of header information, which usually contains the image dimensions among other properties, means the image size must be input prior to loading an RGB image in order for it to be displayed correctly.

Within an RGB file, image data is stored as a sequence of uncompressed red, green, and blue values used to represent each pixel. Each color channel is 8 bits in size, creating a total of 24 bits across the RGB color range, or roughly 16.7 million colors.
