Use our free-to-use DXF to X CAD to 3D model converter to effortlessly convert your DXF files. Our converter can apply extrusion to your DXF files, which can then be edited in most 3D editing applications. As our DXF to X tool is able to batch convert your files, you can upload a maximum of 20 files at a time.
Or drag and drop your files here to upload.
A maximum of 20 files can be uploaded at once.
To begin, click the button above and select your DXF CAD files. Once selected, your CAD files will be added to the conversion list. From here, you will be able to set any conversion properties, such as extrusion depth, by clicking the button. When you are ready, click the Convert button to convert your files.
Here are two simple steps to convert your DXF to X using our fast and free DXF converter tool.
First, click the "Upload..." button and select your DXF file to upload. Your DXF file will be uploaded to our servers. When the DXF to X conversion has completed, you can download your X file right away.
We aim to process all DXF to X conversions as quickly as possible; this usually takes around 5 seconds; however, this can be longer for certain files, so please be patient.
We aim to provide the best conversion experience. Our tools are under constant review and development, with new features being added every week.

A DXF file was created by Autodesk as a standardized format for storing complex 2D and 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings in a single, standard package that can be used for seamless exchanging of data between different CAD systems.
The DXF format is plain text and allows CAD elements such as points, lines, curves, and other elements to be represented in an efficient manner that is easy to read by other CAD applications. The use of plain text does, however, cause the files to grow in size quickly when storing large and complex CAD drawings.
As DXF files are designed from the start to be an open and standard format, there are many CAD and 2D drawing applications that offer support for importing and exporting to the DXF format.

The X file format is the legacy format used by the Microsoft Direct X suite of components and tools. Specifically, X files are used to store hierarchical 3D objects along with their associated material, texture, lighting, and animation data.
The 3D data is stored as plain text in the X file, allowing for manual editing within a simple text editor. 3D mesh surfaces are defined using a series of vertex coordinates and joined with lists of face indices. Along with these are optional normal and texture coordinates for textured surfaces; the textures themselves are often stored as external files using the DDS file format.
As mentioned previously, the X format is a legacy format and is no longer widely supported, with developers preferring to use modern formats such as FBX instead. That said, some 3D modelling applications still support importing and exporting to the X format.
